Still Life Study in Blue

no longer available

I did this study for the weekly challenge on daily paint works. I haven't painted anything in over a week
so I wanted to keep this one loose and spontaneous. I think I'll have to retake the photo because it was dark when I took this shoot. Actually it was dark all day. Dark and rainy. This painting shows the mood I've been in for the last few days. I've been feeling tired and achy, maybe fighting something off.

Jennifer, I like the painting! It's a nice contrast with the warm browns and the shot of aqua/turquoise; it evokes a fall-to-winter mood. Beautiful work.

I'm sorry you're feeling the effects of the damp and dreary weather. I know you're getting pounded with rain no doubt in your northerly neck 'o the woods. I definitely want to feel cozy on a rainy day but I find I, too, can begin to feel blue. I think we southern birds are too accustomed to the sun and light of day, so it goes against nature.

On a personal note, received my package of purchases from you today and I'm thrilled as always. Your small original oils are little treasures, on a shelf here and there, on a desktop, perched in a bookcase or hung on a wall. And I just love the embellished greeting cards; I don't know how you get that subtle "wash" of glitter but it's so perfect, understated, sparkly but almost glowy. Will be hard to part with them, but how lucky will be the recipient!

Appreciate how you so carefully package things for transit, thoughtfully protecting each item. Thanks for the prompt shipment; I love it all.

Have a great week; maybe you'll dry out with some good, bright, warm sunlight midway thru!

Hi Vicki! Thanks so much for the feedback of your purchases! I'm so happy you love them! I saw the glitter demo while watching HSN of all places. They had Martha Stewart's glitter and showed how to apply it with regular glue, like Elmer's brand. I have really fine glitter and find that gives a nicer effect than the larger pieces. I wish I could capture the glitter on "film", I haven't figured that out yet.
It's still raining here but I am starting to feel a little better. Enjoy your beautiful weather down there! I missed it!

Oh, yes, from your comment above, that's important I think for a potential buyer of your gorgeous embellished cards. This isn't schoolgirl glitter like we'd use for a homemade card for Mom when we were age 10(!); this is the finest, most sparkling fairy glitter I've ever seen. It's incredibly fine almost like little lights. Lovely effect! I am MORE than pleased with my purchase; they are a delight.

Oh, and Jennifer, it's dark and gray here for two days or more; rainy mist all day today and quite gloomy, although the mantra is of course, "We Need The Rain!!" which is true. I just turn all the inside lights on...and if some are holiday lights, all the better! Candles/tealights, too. I don't have a working fireplace in my ancient little bungalow, but a nice log on the grate makes for welcoming hearth and home. Helps to have something yummy slow-cooking in the oven, too. Or else cozy up to a huge mug of something hot to drink. Maybe it's a good time for projects like the embellishing; crafts, rather than painting til you're in the right mood. I imagine you need to be in the right mood to paint much like a writer getting an urge to write!

Thank you so much for stopping by Charlotte!
Yes, Vicki- Something yummy in the oven and big cup of something hot sounds so cozy. I'm really excited for this Thursday. I'm getting a new oven! We rent so it won't really be mine but I can't wait to get cooking! So excited!
I'm not sure why I've been feeling bad. I had a sore throat for a few days but it's gone now. I think some of the problems I'm having are from the thyroid problem or the celiac. I don't know, but I think I need to see the doctor again.
I have so many ideas for paintings I want to do!
